Sarahí Lay Trigo

She is a researcher and creator who intertwines dance, anthropology, and philosophy to explore the mysteries of moving human beings. She holds a PhD in Education, a Master’s degree in Higher Education Management and Policies, and a Professional Title in Performing Arts for Dance Expression by the Universidad de Guadalajara (UdeG). Furthermore, she has pursued studies in Communication Sciences at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO). Currently, she is a postdoctoral fellow at Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social (CIESAS-Occidente), after being a grant holder of the Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (SECIHTI) at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Her work explores dance as a path to knowledge and transformation. She has researched the careers of international ballet dancers and the experiences of migrant folkloric dancers in the United States, opening avenues for reflection on dance art. Her insights have been published in international academic journals and chapters of books specialized in dance studies. In experimental video dance, her trilogy, Spiritual Battle Trilogy, created with her brother, Carlos Lay, has been recognized internationally. Her work delves into the philosophical anthropology of dancing beings, where each step is an existential question and a possibility of revelation.
